Excel Tip #3: View Two Workbooks Simultaneously
If you ever wanted to compare two workbooks at the same time, it is rather difficult to keep switching back and forth between two different files.
Luckily Excel has provided a way to display two workbooks side by side with the click of a button.
To view two workbooks simultaneously, first make sure both workbooks are open. Then click the View tab, and select View Side by Side from the Window group.
“Synchronous Scrolling” may be selected (located directly below “View Side by Side” that you just clicked), which will allow you to scroll up or down, left or right in one workbook while the other workbook follows your scrolling. If you don’t want this to happen, you can simply click the Synchronous Scrolling button directly below View Side by Side in the Window group in the View tab.
Bonus tip: You can manually resize the workbooks if needed to show more of one than the other. You also can manually move from the windows being layered one on top of the other to a side by side left and right view. One view might be better than the other depending on the layout of your spreadsheets.
