7 Excel Formatting Tricks

Formatting Parts of Cell Contents

Usually in Excel when you click on a cell and apply a new format, the entire cell’s contents get that new formatting. But what if you only wanted a few words to be formatted differently from the rest of the cell’s contents?

You can do this easily by selecting the cell and then highlighting the portion of the text you want to highlight in the formula bar.
Format Portions of Excel Text

You are then free to change the font, size, color, and bold, italics, or underline of the highlighted portion. You can use the Font group from the Home tab to apply whatever formatting you need.
